The GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust) is the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, with over 3,700 staff and nearly 20,000 students between the ages of three and 18.
One of the UK’s largest educational charities, with schools and academies in England and Wales, we reinvest all our income into our education. Founded in 1872, the GDST has a long history of pioneering innovation in the education of women.
At the GDST our aim is not just to provide an outstanding academic education; we pride ourselves in creating a learning environment dedicated to the development of confident, courageous, composed and committed girls, ready for any challenges life may throw at them.
While our schools and academies are all individual, the commitment to developing the whole person is part of our shared DNA. We have a strong network for sharing knowledge and for spreading best practice, and we also develop and promote talented teachers through this network.
We celebrate our girls’ differences, reinforce their strengths, and help them overcome their challenges. Girls can be themselves, and grow at their own pace. They’re not cloistered – far from it – but their individual characters can take shape in a way that isn’t possible in a mixed environment.
Every girl is different and we make sure that, regardless, she is the best she can be, and that she tries things, reaches for things, achieves things she may have thought beyond her. And when she does this, she grows in confidence and maturity in a way that will stay with her forever.
